EPOC means excessive post oxygen consumption and this actually elevates your metabolism even after 18 to 20 hours post training! You can increase your workout intensity by doing drop sets. Let’s take bench press for example. Lets say you can do a 8 reps max with 100 pounds, you start the first set with 100 pounds for 8 reps, then immediately drop the weight to 80 pounds and do 10 reps and then drop it once more to 60 pounds and do 12 reps. These three sets are to be done without rest and its considered as 1 set.
The fifth secret to boost metabolism is to have an ice cold glass of water the fisrt in the morning. This will force the body to use calories to raise the temperature of the water to body temperature. You now can burn extra calories by drinking water. In fact, do not just limit yourself to the morning; drink cold water throughout the day.
